Procaine hydrochloride
In these frantic times, you might walk through your drug store aisles, looking for Tylenol or Advil. You’ll walk by bare shelves and realize that everyone else cleared out the stock in a panic. Now there’s no reason to be upset—hidden away in the bottom shelf, you’ll find Acetaminophen and Ibuprofen. They’re generic versions of those medications, but they’re just as effective. They might not have the eye catching marketing or the superior effectiveness we’ve been placebo’d into believing. But they’ll get the job done. Sometimes you have to just make do with what’s available.
Now procaine hydrochloride isn’t as readily available as Acetaminophen or Ibuprofen. Probably for the best - its used primarily as an anesthetic during dental procedures. You might recognize it as Novacaine - a monicker (minus the i) it shares with one of my favorite Frank Ocean songs. His music is a closely guarded treasure - often times he’ll go months without releasing new stuff. But what is a sadboi to do when there isn’t new Frank out? Next time you find yourself in a Frank Ocean drought, look to the bottom shelf - there’s a bunch of artists that exude similar vibes. They might not have Frank’s wordplay or his astonishing vocal range, but if you’re feelin a little sadboi, they’ll get the job done.
