Meek Mill

More than just the beef with Aubrey

When I first heard Meek Mill, I dismissed him as a non-unique, cookie cutter, misogynistic rapper that didn’t really bring anything new to the table and the only thing I knew about him is that he beefed with Drake. His voice was just so yell-ey and hard to digest because it felt more like he was chastising me than spitting bars.

HOWEVER, I feel v differently now! I want u guys to give him a chance too. His latest drop Championships is a lot more mature and it showcases everything I love in a rap song— jazz influences, socially aware undertones, and BARS. His old shit bops too! Namely the project, *Dreamchasers 2* which is $TACKED with features including Mac Miller (rest in peace), Fabolous (<3), Kendrick, 2 Chainz, and WALE (s/o D.C.).

I would say Championships is a really well constructed, conscious yet fun album whereas Dreamchasers 2 just really gets a fuckin party going

Spotlighted Songs

Oodles O’ Noodles Babies hardships of Robert’s childhood and takes universal American motifs of the broken justice system and systematically oppressive institutions and relates incidents personal to him, philly, and his family as a microcosm of what black americans face day to day. His cousin was shot at 21 rest in peace 😞

( Would really recommend reading the Noodle Babies genius page )

Honorable mention off this album, its nomer track:

From Dreamchasers, I want you guys to listen to House Party Remix:

(I think Fabolous’ verse is what Meechy Darko references with the iconic “I smell pussy” line on Headstone). Fave line off the song by Meek–
